Job Role Responsible for technology-related areas in the company comprising design & engineering; R&D; supporting material procurement, marketing, and manufacturing after sales; HSEQ related to the power transformer SBU. Job Responsibilities • Establishment of the Technology department at VTO comprising design, engineering, and HSEQ. • Custodian of VTO technologies. • Development of new products in line with customer expectations, and market intelligence and to increase competitiveness. • Verification and approval of all design outputs. • Support to the marketing department in the preparation of offers and during contract negotiations. Advise on warranty terms. • Technical assistance to the production department at all stages of manufacturing including the development of special tools, jigs, and fixtures. • Production time estimates / normative hours. • Decisions on deviations from the design during manufacturing. • Assistance to the procurement department including preparation of purchase specifications and vendor appraisals. • Root cause analysis, problem-solving, and continuous improvement of existing designs based on manufacturing or site feedback. • Preparation and up-gradation of Quality Assurance Systems including certifications. Ensuring zero NCRs during inspections. • Implementing quality control measures throughout the SBU including procurement, production, and site installations. • Preparation and implementation of the HSE policies. • Preparation of budgets, including budget for the Development of new products and product improvements. • Submission of progress reports and MIS • Staff appraisals. Assistance to HR in hiring and training. Specific Objectives and Performance measurement criteria: • Planned and actual expenditures, revenue from new products, and savings due to product improvements • Timely submission of offers to the marketing department • Timely renewals of ISO and other certifications. Achieving Zero NCRs during quality audits. • Customer satisfaction indices including reduction in complaints (from sites or during factory inspections) • Monitoring and suggesting measures for reducing -cost of quality-. • Timely implementation of HSE measures. Achieving and maintaining zero LTAs. • Accuracy of the bill of quantities and normative hours. Minimum Qualifications & experience (cannot be diluted): • Degree in Engineering. • 10 years of work experience in the distribution transformers industry • Hands on experience in design of distribution & power transformers up to 20mVA, 33kV class. • Experience with customer specifications. • Awareness of HSEQ principles including ISO certifications. Desired Qualifications & experience: • • 15 years of experience in the distribution transformers industry • Awareness, preferably hands-on experience, of technology transfers and assimilation. • Involvement in new product development and design improvements. • Customer interactions.
